Under Orders From Above
So I apparently have been ordered to post more often by the Toribug, despite the fact that I still post more often than she does! Silly girl ;) Anyway, I forget what I was going to put so I will just ramble until it comes to me. Last night, Tori and I went to "redfest" at the u, which was pretty fun. I got a ton of free sampler CD's, some free energy drink, got to see a free BMX stunt show, and the climax: a free (are we noticing a pattern here?) concert! Straylight Run was the first opener and since they didn't have the girl (Michelle-piano and backup vox) they played a "special" acoustic set which was entertaining. Next was Tiger Army, whom I've almost seen many times (they often open for bands I like but I don't end up going to see for whatever reason). They were quite entertaining and energetic, even if they didn't fit with the other bands. Also, after a while their songs kind of started to run together and sound "samey" but they were fun nonetheless. Lastly was the headliner, Ben Kweller, whom I haven't seen since he opened for Dashboard about....4 or 5 years ago. He came out with his acoustic and started off with "Ice Ice Baby" which he had done previously and is a great way to start the show. He played some of my favorites like "Commerce, TX" and "Sha Sha" then went into some new songs which were excellent. He also told a story about how his guitar got lost on the plane and his manager got it back by calling the airline and telling them it was Alan Jackson's guitar. hahaha For an encore he came out and played weezer's "Undone" while having some jugglers from the U come on stage and perform while he played. A great way to cap off the evening. Of course, the best part was being there with my girl, she is the sweetest thing ever. Overall, a great night! Yay!
...now, if only I can come up with some idea for a bachelor party for tyler this week.....sigh....
