"I don't like stuff that sucks"

So as a child of the late-Atari and NES era, I grew up with video games, and like most my age, still enjoy playing them. However, something about them has really started to bother me lately. All the games are now becoming ultra-violent and all dependent on guns. They all seem to be first-person shooters (ala Doom, Half-Life, etc etc) or Grand Theft Auto style games. Well, guess what? They aren't fun! They are stupid. The shooters bore me to tears ("Yay, let's wander around in circles mindlessly shooting anything I see....ALL DAY!") and Grand Theft Auto, well to be honest, just wasn't very fun (and yes I mean 3/Crap City). Where did the games that didn't depend on ultra-violence go? I don't want to be a gun toting character, sorry I don't. I also miss the 2-D graphics, they just looked a lot cooler than what is being done these days. Final Fantasy 3, now THAT is a beautiful game. Absolutely gorgeous. I guess what the point here is that someone, ANYONE should make a new 2-D side scrolling platformer for one of these new beefy consoles (preferably Nintendo, they are kings of those). Can you imagine a new 2-D Mario game on the gamecube? I would be MASSIVE and have so many hidden things and amazing graphics and everything. Holy crap, I nearly pass out from excitement just thinking about it. So yeah, 95% of new games SUCK. peaceness

Also, quit ruining my RPGs by making them so action oriented or adding all visible enemies or taking away the need to level up. I like the old school flava. Dragon Warrior 7 owns you.

I SO FREAKIN AGREE WITH YOU!!

Finally, another old skool gamer who's sick of the pologons and the games telling you what to do, where to go, and how to beat the dang thing.

What happened to the good ol days when we were suppoesd to figure this stuff out ourselves?

Unfortuantely, I think they are long gone. I just got Mario 3 for my GBA, and although I've played it a million times, know where 905 of the stuff is and have beaten it before, I have still been playing it incessantly. So fun. AND no guns, blood, hookers, gangsters, or any of that other trendy, boring crap.
